Dr. Farhang Daneshmand

Dr. Farhang Daneshmand is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State Scranton. His expertise includes mechanical system design, engineering analysis and simulation, fluid–structure interaction, vibration, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and heat transfer.


Dr. Daneshmand is passionate about connecting engineering education with real-world practice through project-based learning, applied research, and industry collaboration. He has developed partnerships with organizations including Verdantas, SIMONA, and the Monroe County Conservation District, creating opportunities for students to work on authentic engineering challenges while strengthening connections between Penn State Scranton and regional industry.


His research focuses on improving the safety, reliability, and performance of engineering systems, with applications in energy infrastructure, pipelines, underground energy storage, and advanced mechanical systems. His work has been published in leading journals and presented at major international conferences, and his research has supported engineering challenges through collaborations with organizations such as the Solution Mining Research Institute (SMRI) and the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI).


Through education, research, and collaboration, Dr. Daneshmand is committed to building strong partnerships between academia and industry that advance engineering innovation, workforce development, and experiential learning.
