Dr. Del Lucent

Del Lucent Biography: Dr. Del Lucent is an associate professor of physics at Wilkes University, where he teaches and conducts research at the intersection of quantum information science, biophysics, and computation. A Wilkes alumnus, he earned bachelor’s degrees in biology and physics before completing a Ph.D. in biophysics at Stanford University. His work with the Folding@home project provided early experience in distributed computing and molecular simulation. He later spent three years at CSIRO in Australia working in computational enzyme design and structural genomics. His current interests include quantum computing, statistical mechanics, protein folding, and computational drug discovery. He is also a co-creator of Wilkes University’s WARLOC supercomputing center and is passionate about quantum information education, physics pedagogy, and making advanced computational ideas accessible to students.
